While Industry 4.0 (14.0) is adopted by the global players with a high pace, there is a risk that the SMEs – the backbone for industrial innovations – would be left behind. In Germany, SMEs are responsible for 97% of all exports and make for 1300 of the worldwide hidden champions. Unfortunately, most of the available I4.0 solution does not match the SME requirements, such as independence of specific vendors, moderate deployment costs and data sovereignty. To solve this problem, the Industry Business Network 4.0 (IBN 4.0) created a joint SME-ready solution based on open components. This talk will present the requirements, architecture and current state of the implementation of IndustryFusion and will detail about StarlingX and the Open IoT Service Platform. The session is presented by Konstantin Kernschmidt (Project Lead, IBN 4.0), Martin Mohring (CTO of 5e EcoSystems) and Marcel Wagner (Software ecosystem enabler, Intel).
