The technological development in the UAV sector has been enormous in recent years. The platforms and hardware/software for UAVs have become more abundant, offering more choices and enhanced performance. Taking this growth and available facilities into consideration, we have attempted to use quadcopters towards enhancing/increasing the efficiency in inventory monitoring in warehouses through a cost-effective approach.
We have learned that there is a lot of loss because of inefficient monitoring techniques, which mostly involve human resources. Since manual verification is both time-consuming and error-prone, we used drones, data analytics, Android and IoT to simplify the process. This approach was found to be affordable, accurate and viable. Our drone would fly inside a warehouse, track the goods and components, and give alerts/updates to the store manager through a web interface/Android application we have developed. This way, we can track every box in the warehouse, while eliminating the chance for it to be lost.
